See more of our work. When you call Nest Feathers you will not need to go anywhere else. Be assured that we will strive to help you in every way possible whether you have very definite ideas or don't know where to begin.
If you need guidance in other areas of design, (floors, kitchens, paint, etc.) we have professionals whom we network with so we can truly be your "One Stop Shop."
We attend several trade shows or seminars each year in an effort to stay current on the latest products, styles and fabrication methods.

When you call Nest Feathers, you will be asked several questions to clarify your needs concerning, style, functionality and budget. We may be able to give you a rough estimate over the phone.

If you decide to proceed, an in-home consultation is necessary.

We will bring samples of products and workmanship. It is important to look at colors in your lighting and surroundings. We will also need to measure.  There are no such things as standard sizes! Trust me!  We will probably take some pictures.  We can decide on fabrics, trims, hardware and designs together, or I can leave and come back with a completed design scheme for you, including drawings to scale.

We can handle the charges for this in two ways:

Hourly charge$40 per hour.  I can keep track of hours spent in your home, on the road and at my office, designing, drawing sketches, picking out fabrics trim and hardware and at my computer writing up your proposal.

OR

Flat fee:  $200 for Lake Jackson or $250 for out of town and you get all of the above.

We will give you the proposal. If you decide to proceed, we ask for a half down payment. Our general turn around time is 4-6 weeks. We will call you to give you updates.

When your beautiful treatments are ready, We will call to set up an installation date.

On installation day, please arrange for pets and children to be somewhere else. We have a lot of fascinating things, large and small, around us and curiosity may result in an unfortunate accident. Please move all breakables away from the area and roll rugs back. We are also extremely appreciative if you leave us alone to do our thing so we can really provide you with the "Tada" experience.

You will find your pieces to have fine, hand finished details, solid workmanship and sturdy installation.

We stand behind our work and we look forward to doing many other projects for you and your friends.

I have loved art, sewing and working with my hands all my life.  Growing up in Africa, as an only child of missionaries, my mother and I would make whatever we needed or wanted with what we had on hand. She taught me to embroider and my mother made all our clothes by hand.  My grandmother introduced me to a sewing machine on a trip to the United States. I made my own bedroom curtains on a toy sewing machine. My mother taught me the ethics of neat and tidy work and to take pride in it. It is this attitude of resourcefulness, creativity and integrity that I now bring into my business.

I received a degree in elementary education from Abilene Christian University. After graduating, I married Robin Lee and worked part time as a substitute teacher and part time in a drapery workroom. I loved the new skills and stored them in my mind for the future, never thinking of starting a business.

Robin grew up in Pampa, Texas, one of 6 children, thus he too is skilled with his hands and is quite resourceful.

I taught school for a while, but as I began to decorate my own home, my affection grew towards creating window treatments and other soft furnishings. I was soon creating for my friends and a small clientele. I stopped teaching to start a family and never went back.

We opened Nest Feathers in 1994 and have been steadily growing ever since.
We built a large workroom at our home, rather than leasing a store so I can devote my time to my work. I am currently serving as president of the Houston Area Custom Drapery Association.  My husband, Robin, is my business partner and works for Dow Chemical in his spare time! He does all our installations and woodwork.

Together we have three children: Alan 23, Belinda 21, Christine 13 and a miniature dachshund named Button. We live in Lake Jackson.
